Client Characteristics: Healthcare Aggregator – 35 different healthcare product and service lines, 50+ different Clinical & administrative roles and 5000+ care pathways
The Reference Client was established with a Vision to be – Everything about Health.
Some key facets included:
- Integrated Platform: The design principle followed was to have a “SINGLE” platform that caters to every healthcare product and service, covering the entire Prevention, Wellness, Cure & Care spectrum.
- Global Scale: The vision was to make this Platform accessible and operational to address the needs of over 4.5 billion people globally. Thus, the Enterprise Architecture and the underlying Technical Architecture was designed for easy globalization, specifically addressing a myriad of regulatory compliances that govern the Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, and Insurance domains worldwide.
- ONEVIEW principle: Each stakeholder (customer, care giver, hospital, pharmacy, insurer, regulator, and the government) journey was crafted leveraging the “ONEVIEW” principle, which enabled the platform to automatically adjust and present a “Singular” view – based on the Information and decision rights of the stakeholder. This enabled the Platform to present the same information but, contextualized to the stakeholder and limited to a need-to-know basis.
- Primitives based Architecture: The Architecture was designed to simplify the complexity of a multitude of disparate business workflows by leveraging the principles of “Primitives or the lowest unit of value creation and their orchestration to generate a business outcome”. As represented by this principle, the Architecture provided for agility for decision support, uniform stakeholder experience at any scale, and a continuous self-learning design (the foundations for the GenerativeAI based LLMs). This naturally aligning itself to a future proof design where autonomous machines, artificial intelligence and Natural Language Processing would be the direction of growth for the Platform over the next few decades.
Today, this approach has enabled our reference customer to become the world’s first and only completely integrated Healthcare Platform.
Industry Sector: Healthcare, Wellness and Healthcare Products
Business Driver
The Primary business driver for the adoption of a unique approach to Requirements and derived Enterprise Architecture (and the derived business, technology, and digital architecture) was the wide range of services being orchestrated on a single Platform – Over 35 different healthcare product and service lines, 50+ different Clinical & administrative roles and 5000+ care pathways across three levels of engagement / service delivery:
- At Platform – Anything that can be done virtually should be done virtually
- At Home – Anything that requires a human touch by a care giver, should be delivered at the convenience of the customer’s home, and,
- At Center – Else, facilitate the required care at a hospital or wellness centre
Our Approach to enabling the Business Drivers
In this era of information driven economy paving the path beyond Internet of Things, is the paradigm of Internet of Entities (IOE). These Entities were designed to be at the lowest disaggregation of a value generator that aimed at delivering Stakeholder Delight. This was manifested in Run Time through the orchestration of the entities triggered by a “Doer – either a human or a machine” thus, driving highest level of reuse with the minimal level of technical service design or coding.
This design was amenable to the ensuing data architecture for enabling information and insights and designed on the foundations of value creating Entities.
This design represents the concept of Primitives and formed the basis for the Enterprise Architecture. Thus, all Entities were distinct and at the same time they possess self-similar structures, regardless of level.
Thus, the resultant Enterprise Architecture was designed to provide higher autonomy for decision ability and enable an ecosystem that promotes agility, uniformity of stakeholder experience at any scale, and a continuous self-learning design to ensure Variation limited to Two digits to the right of the decimal (5 Sigma Level or 99.99% defect free operations).
The resultant Enterprise Architecture was expressed through:
- A single organization that works as effectively for servicing a single geography or servicing the global market potential ~ from 8 million to >4.5 billion
- A continuous self-learning and self-improving design to address the dynamic nature of Business, Sub Business, Roles, Process and Activity without ever impacting agility and stakeholder experience of the services ~ delivered either directly by the client or through alternative delivery models
- Clearly defined Value Creating entities, expressed at an instant level (the lowest level possible thus, expressed through billions of instances) that produces data inputs for enabling Information / Intelligence for continuous improvement
The outcome was designed to provide an orchestration of a Graphical Relationship (akin to Graphical Neural Networks) that grows exponentially at a transaction level. This is clearly aligned to the foundations for Artificial Intelligence and actionable insights and follows the principles of the enterprise data models.
To ensure predictability and uniform experience, these Entity were designed at the most granular level of expression. An Entity has relationships to all the resources and stakeholders’ classes – a fundamental construct of the Business Analysis Core Concept ModelTM (BACCMTM), drawn from BABOK.
The simplicity of the solution aimed to leverage IOE to generate value by transforming inputs and collaborate for resources both in the virtual space and real world and create the desired outputs.
The design guidelines leveraged for the business requirements enumerated as below:
- With the disaggregation, the requirements addressed all transformation activities across Virtual (e.g., Tele Consultation), Physical (e.g., care at home) and Information (e.g., Electronic Health Records) dimensions
- It was designed to simply have only two actors – The Platform that formed the Stakeholder Interface and triggers an action and, the Ecosystem represented by the Customers and Partners
- The Stakeholder Interface was designed as a “Value Exchange” that triggered a “business process or transformation”
- The Stakeholder Interface was the “Only” interface / exchange for the Entities to collaborate and produce the desired Transformations to generate desired outcomes
- The Platform eliminated organizational hierarchies as it disaggregated all value creation activities to the pre-defined Entities and exchange of the same as warranted (orchestration), as per the directions defined by the Business workflows
- 6. A Mission Control Center (MCC) for real time visibility into the performance of each of the Entities leveraging our Reference Client’s proprietary 5A Framework (Aspiration, Actual, Analysis, Action & Achievement) driven based on the defined Measurement Filters [covering Quality (Delight), Quantity (Scale), Quick (Speed), Quid (Value), Quiver (Stability) and Quintessence (aggregated)]

Outcome delivered
Platform Valuation >$300 million; 100 City Coverage in India and entry into two international locations (designed for a total addressable population of >450 million).
In 2019, December, the Platform was recognized by the Prestigious ICMG Awards for the Best IT Product Architecture, selected by Mr. John Zachman, Father of Modern Enterprise Architecture.
